Privacy policy
We keep this simple. TreelineLocal is a **free matching service** that helps homeowners understand tree work and connect with licensed, insured tree-care companies.
What we collect
When you use our site, we may collect the details needed to help with your request. That usually includes your name, phone number, email, property address, ZIP code, and details about the tree job you want help with.
We may also collect basic website-use information, such as:
- pages visited
- device or browser type
- general location from IP address
- referral source and site activity
Please do not send sensitive personal information through our forms. We do not need bank account numbers, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or medical records to match you with tree companies.
If you upload photos or notes, share only what is relevant to the job.
How we use your information
We use your information to run the service you asked for.
- Match your request with participating tree-care companies that may serve your area and job type.
- Contact you about your request, including by phone, text, or email, if you gave us that information.
- Improve the site and understand what pages people find helpful.
- Prevent misuse, spam, or fraudulent activity.
TreelineLocal is not a tree company, arborist, or contractor. We do not perform tree work or give arboricultural, structural, electrical, or legal advice. Our educational pages, such as costs and how to vet a tree company, are general information only.
When we share information
We share your request details only as needed to provide the free matching service.
That may include sharing with:
- participating licensed and insured tree-care companies in or near your area
- service providers that help us run the website, forms, communications, or analytics
- authorities or other parties when required by law, to protect rights, or to respond to safety or fraud concerns
We do not ask homeowners for payment to use TreelineLocal. Matching is free to you. Participating tree companies pay a flat fee to take part.
You should still do your own checks before hiring anyone. Verify the company's license and insurance yourself, including liability and workers' compensation coverage. For assessments, it is smart to prefer an ISA-certified arborist. Get the scope and price in writing, compare estimates, and do not pay the full amount up front.
Your choices, retention, and safety disclaimer
You have choices about how your information is used.
- If you do not want to continue, you can stop using the site.
- You can ask us to update or delete the contact details you submitted, subject to legal or operational needs.
- You can limit cookies or similar tools in your browser settings, though some site features may work less smoothly.
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, keep records, improve the site, and meet legal or security obligations.
Important safety note: Tree work is dangerous, high-liability work. Always hire licensed and insured tree companies and verify coverage yourself. If a tree is down, leaning, or hanging on or near a power line, stay back, keep others away, and call the utility company and 911 first. Do not touch the tree, the line, or anything the line may be touching. See storm damage tree safety for general safety information.
After storms, be careful with door-knockers who demand cash up front. You compare estimates, you choose who to hire, and you hold the final payment until the agreed work is done.
We ask for basic contact and job details so we can match you, for free, with tree companies that may serve your area. We may share that information with participating companies and website providers, but you should still verify license and insurance yourself, get the work in writing, and treat any tree touching a power line as a 911-and-utility emergency.
