Terms of service
TreelineLocal is a **free matching service** for homeowners. We help you understand common tree-work needs and connect with licensed, insured tree-care companies, but **we do not perform tree work or give professional arboricultural, electrical, structural, or legal advice**.
What TreelineLocal does
TreelineLocal helps US homeowners request contact from participating tree-care companies. Matching is free to the homeowner. Participating companies pay TreelineLocal a flat fee to receive leads.
We are not a tree-care company, arborist, contractor, or emergency response provider. We do not remove trees, trim branches, grind stumps, climb, inspect on site, operate equipment, or supervise crews. Information on this site is general education to help you ask better questions about jobs like tree removal, pruning, storm cleanup, and stump work.
Any company you may hire is independent from TreelineLocal. Your contract, pricing, schedule, workmanship, permits, cleanup, and any disputes are between you and that company.
Your responsibilities as a homeowner
You stay in control of the job. Before hiring anyone, you should:
- Verify the company’s license and insurance yourself. Ask for proof of general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage.
- Prefer an ISA-certified arborist when the job involves tree health, risk, or whether a tree should be removed.
- Get the scope and price in writing before work starts. Make sure haul-away, stump work, cleanup, and permit handling are clearly listed.
- Compare estimates and choose who to hire. You are not required to hire any company you hear from.
- Do not pay the full amount up front. A reasonable deposit may be normal, but final payment should wait until agreed work is done.
Tree-work prices shown anywhere on TreelineLocal are typical ranges and estimates only, not quotes or guarantees. Real cost depends on the size and species of the tree, its location and access, hazards, debris haul-away, and your area. You can learn more about screening companies in how to vet a tree company.
Safety rules and emergency situations
Tree work is dangerous, high-liability work. If a tree is damaged, split, leaning, or close to a structure, the safest choice is to hire a licensed and insured tree company.
Power-line rule: a downed or leaning tree on or near a power line is a life-threatening emergency. Stay back. Keep children, pets, and neighbors away. Do not touch the tree, the wire, fences, puddles, or anything nearby. Call the utility company and 911 first. Do not attempt DIY cutting near lines.
After storms, be careful with door-knockers who show up uninvited and demand cash up front. Some storm chasers disappear after taking money or doing unsafe work. For storm-related hazards, start with storm damage tree safety.
Local rules may also matter. Some cities and counties require permits for protected, heritage, street, or certain-size trees. TreelineLocal does not give legal advice, so check local requirements or ask the company you are considering to explain what permits may apply in writing.
No warranty, service limits, and privacy basics
We try to make the service useful, clear, and available, but TreelineLocal provides the site and matching service as is and as available. We do not promise that:
- every request will receive a match
- any matched company will be available, suitable, or the lowest price
- site content will fit your exact situation
- the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free
TreelineLocal is not responsible for the acts, omissions, pricing, timelines, permits, property damage, injuries, cleanup quality, or contract performance of any independent company you contact through the service. To the fullest extent allowed by law, your use of the service is at your own discretion.
When you use the service, only share job details and contact details needed for a match, such as your name, phone, email, address, and a description of the tree issue. Do not send financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive records. If you want to start a request, use get matched.
TreelineLocal helps you find licensed, insured tree companies for free, but we do not do the work and we do not guarantee any company’s price or results. Check license and insurance yourself, get the job in writing, never pay in full up front, and if power lines are involved, stay back and call the utility company and 911 first.
